Rydeen Ships Highly Anticipated RDV360 Safety System

360PICRDV360TORRANCE, CA (11.21.2013) – Rydeen, premium supplier of integrated smart safety products for drivers, announced that its much-anticipated 360-degree camera / digital video recorder system is now shipping. The RDV360 was the talk of the booth during the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in November, and represents both a new flagship product for the company and a high-value safety solution for Rydeen retailers and end users.

Rydeen announced the RDV360 in September and has since shipped units in limited quantities to select Rydeen retailers and distributors. “We’ve gotten great feedback from our initial group,” said Robert Haynes, national product trainer for Rydeen. “This is a product that must be professionally installed and calibrated, and if done correctly, the user experience mirrors that of popular vehicles that come equipped with similar systems. To that end, we’ve continued to take extensive measures to ensure that our retailers and technicians are proficiently trained to install and calibrate the units.”

Rydeen has produced videos that describe the installation process for technicians as well as point out the system’s unique features. Videos can be found on the company’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/user/rydeenmobileusa and on the company’s website. Rydeen will also be training groups of technicians at scheduled events in 2014.

The Rydeen RDV360 system includes four cameras that are mounted on the four sides of the vehicle: one each centered on or near the front and rear bumpers, and one beneath each side mirror. The cameras connect to a central module that processes the information into a combined camera image, which can be toggled manually in addition to automatically showing when the vehicle is in reverse gear.

Though other companies market a 360-degree camera system, the $799 MSRP RDV360 offers a substantially richer user experience and the ability to record video—at the same price point. “The most important aspect of a product like this is to deliver visual information in a way that enhances maneuvering,” continued Haynes. “Simply showing four images all at different angles on a screen causes the driver to have to think about and process what he or she is seeing, and it ends up being a distraction rather than a benefit. The RDV360 does the processing for the driver, presenting a birds’ eye view of the vehicle from the top, as well as its surroundings, all to scale and in real time.”

The RDV360 can also present single camera views on a connected screen with a compatible composite video input, and can record imagery on an SD card up to 32GB.

Rydeen has installed the RDV360 system on its customized 2013 Honda CR-Z, which will be on display at various authorized Rydeen dealer locations, as well as at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. Retailers can contact authorized Rydeen sales representatives and distributors to order the RDV360.
